Where did that year go?

My baby boy, Mercer, is one-year-old today. I made his cake. The little guy loves nothing more than playing with a ball, so that's what I made. It also makes up 99.9% of his vocabulary, "bah, bah, bah." Big brother, Maddox, picked out the decorations for the cake (sugary star shaped pieces and flower sprinkles).

We decorated our kitchen with little plastic balls hanging from the ceiling fan. The boys loved it! And the ball cake was a big hit!

Winefest!

Winefest was this past weekend in Des Moines. And the timing was perfect because my childhood girlfriend and best friend Erin was here visiting! She lives in Chicago and I made sure to show her how much fun Iowa is too! We also went to the Farmer's Market, Clive Aquatic Center, Jordan Creek Mall and more. She said she had a great time.

Family Day

Without even meaning to, Amanda and I both had our families visit us at the station today. Our husbands were nice enough to bring the kiddos by to say hello for a few minutes. We even managed to snap this picture in our newsroom.
Amanda's oldest son Maddox is just too sweet, he goes around saying hi to everyone and checking out the goods on their desks (i.e. toy cars, gumballs, fun pens etc.). Little Mercer waves hi and gives everyone the biggest smile! Maddox makes sure everyone knows that this is his brother Mercer. What cute boys!

Lydia is just shy, she hides behind me when people talk to her...but its a busy place with lots of people, I'd be intimidated too. She did love running up and down the ramp leading to the studio.
