Non Stop Fun

For those of you who went to the fair you make recognize this contraption. Its the Skyscraper. It's some crazy ride at the Iowa State Fair that I paid twenty five bucks to ride on. Well worth it, in fact its my second time. I did the ride with my older sister two years ago and then again this year with my younger sister. It was a great way to end the fair.

I personally LOVE the fair. I went five times this year. Always in the evenings to introduce the acts at the Budweiser ABC5 stage and then I'd hang out. I ate so much stuff that I shouldn't have, fried cheese curds, fried veggies, turkey leg, bucket of fries, fudge, ice cream and the list goes on. At least I shared with my husband and sister so it wasn't too much damage to my waist line...or so I keep telling myself.

Can't wait for next year!

Cloth Diapers

I know before Lydia was born I mentioned that we we were going to use cloth diapers. We are now four months in and loving them.
The picture above is the kind we use, fuzzi bunz. Here's their website: http://www.fuzzibunz.com/
They are so easy, as long as you stay on top of the washing. We do still use disposable when we travel or are at my parents house.
I just feel so much better knowing there's no chemicals on her skin, only this super soft cloth. I wash them in organic soap and they come out perfectly clean no matter what mess is in them. My husband did install a sprayer on our toilet but we haven't had to use it yet, I'm sure that day will come when she starts eating solid food. (Probably too much information)
If you're thinking about cloth diapers there's a great store in Valley Junction called Little Padded Bottoms. They have all kinds of different cloth diapers and even offer a free class on cloth diapering.

Davy Jones at the Iowa State Fair

Davy Jones was our first performer at the free ABC5 Budwieser Stage at the Iowa State Fair. He performed Thursday night at 8pm to a packed tent. Pam Dixon from KIOA and I introduced the heart-throb. Here's the pictures:

I'll be back at the fair on the weekends to introduce some of our other acts. Hope to see you there!

Game Show Gala

Back a few months ago, while I was still on maternity leave. I was a contestant for "Family Fued" as part of the Game Show Gala to raise money for the House of Mercy. It was a ton of fun and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a great cause! Here's some pictures that I just got in the mail from the organizer.

Running Days

I've been training pretty hard the last month for my upcoming half marathons. I'm doing two in Iowa, one in September and one in October. I'm so grateful for my running partner. We meet up once a week to knock out our long run. This week its a nine-miler, whew! We both have new babies and admit if we didn't have each other those long runs may not happen.

I love my Garmin watch that keeps track of my pace, calories, mileage, course and more. I'm a nerd, I get so excited after my run to download all the information onto my computer and see how I did. I've been trying to keep my miles under 9 minute pace, slower than I use to be but I'll get back to my faster pace...someday.

I can't wait until Lydia is old enough to go in the running stroller. My husband plans to bike next to me running with the baby, what a great family bonding time that will be!

Bumbo Time!

Tonight was Lydia's first time in her Bumbo chair. She seemed to really like it! Brad Edwards' wife Alica got her the seat...so nice of her.
I took the pictures during my dinner break at home. My dog's ear got in part of the top picture, opps.
Well that's our little girl, three and a half months and sitting like a big girl all by herself! I think I have a little tear in my eye.
